FAQ
What should I expect?
Whether it be your first visit and assessment or follow up appointments, you should expect one-on-one treatment for the entire duration of your appointment. Depending on your needs, your appointment may include any of the following:
Assessment of the injury or area of complaint
manual therapy such as soft tissue release and mobilizations
therapeutic modalities such as ice, heat, TENS or NMES
exercise prescription with thorough review of technique, as well as how to progress your exercise program on your own to achieve the best results
recommendations for taping, bracing or other support techniques
What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move around easily in and where your area of concern can be easily accessed. For example if you have a knee injury, please wear shorts to your appointment. In the case of areas that may not be easy to expose, please wear form fitting, thin materials such as leggings so the area can be assessed accurately.
Do you treat only performing artists?
No! I have expertise across many different sports as well as the performing arts and am able to create sport specific plans for any athlete. I have worked with athletes at all levels as well from recreational to national team members.
You don’t even need to be an athlete, I can treat anyone with musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, concussions or just looking for overall advice on strength and conditioning regardless of your daily activities or hobbies.
Will my appointment be covered under my extended health benefits?
This all depends on your specific health benefits provider and the packages your employer has opted for. Please refer to your health benefit plan guide to find out information for your specific plan. You can also check for a health spending account where the funds within that account can be used to any treatment or supplies as a coverage option as well.
You can find more information about benefit companies that do offer Athletic Therapy coverage on the CATA Website. On this page you can also find a letter template to provide to your benefits company to potentially add athletic therapy added to your benefits.
Do you offer direct billing?
At this time, I am not able to offer direct billing. You can be provided with an invoice to submit to your health benefits company on your own though.
